After a great night in the Tongue hostel, overlooking a stunning bay, we awoke to a cloudy day, with rain forecast. While the rain did come briefly during the morning, it improved considerably as we headed east. But what a tough day. Only 60 miles, but it was 5 or 6 hills, then descents, one after the other in the first 30 miles. Battling against a South easterly wind that was often in our face. This first 30 miles in these conditions was as hard as any section we had undertaken.
With two pit stops though, and warm pies to replenish our reserves, we all made good time.
We re-grouped at the second stop, 12 miles outside of John O’Groats, so that, as a team, we could all cycle in together.
Finally, 1000 miles later, 13 days, we completed our journey.
Lots of hugs, cheers and a few tears. A tough challenge completed. Memories made, which will long be talked about. A great Tour.
