Day 4
What can be said about our ride from Galway to Castlebar…….wet, wet, wet, but enough of 80″s Scottish Bands. In truth, the first 30 miles were rather damp but the first tuck stop was a welcomed sight and after some hot soup and a change into dry riding gear (with the van acting as a very good changing room!) we were ready to set off again.
Due to the weather we had layered up but were soon having to discard clothes as the rain stopped and the wind dropped. The route on day three has always been about the scenery and breathtaking views of the …… Mountains and …..loch and, once agin, we weren’t disappointed. The cycling was slow but only because our couldn’t ride for more than a few feet before another photo opportunity presented itself.
Not wanting to keep to convention, the ladies decided to go ‘ off piste’ a d were treated to some amazing views of loch……. And an unscheduled pub stop in ……..
All riders finally arrived at Castlebar and we were treated to a very luxurious stay at the Harlequin Hotel…….and the very hot bathroom radiators were welcomed for kit drying!!!
