Day two started with a clear blue sky and anticipation of what Martyn had described as the “toughest” of Lejog. A relatively easy first 20 miles, then it was up to Dartmoor. Killer climbs…. Friendly ponies…..exhilarating downhills, and welcome sunshine, were the hallmarks of the next 46 miles. We ignored “Road Closed” signs as we approached Tiverton, but Ray’s diplomatic skills saw us safely to our overnight stop. Early evening sunshine accompanied by refreshing beer, and a “carbo-loaded” dinner, rounded off a demanding but rewarding day.
Eddie – Tough!!!
Bruce – Feeling better as I’ve found a significant hill (NOT Martyn’s assessment!!)
Jim – Exhilarating
Neil – fact of the day – Ponies like jelly babies
Stephen – (Fig Roll Man), fascination of Neil pulling a Dartmoor pony
Del Boy – What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
Jon – What awesome sausage rolls
Mike – Not sure I can walk all the way to JOG
Ray – My diplomacy skills are helped by outright bribery (handful of Mars Bars)!!!!
