Day 2 – Killarney to Limerick
70.5miles, elevation gain 3336ft, top speed 45mph
The riders were all up bright and early and ready to take on the next 70 miles to Limerick. A relatively flat stage of the tour with all the climbing done before lunch. An overcast, warm day and most of the riders made it to the hotel before the rain came!
The quiet roads twisted through far reaching scenic views over green fields giving the riders an opportunity to spin their legs a little more and appreciate a slightly easier day in the saddle. A steady climb before the first 25 mile refuel stop gifted us with a stunning down hill where my Garmin clocked me going at 45mph (have a whiskey Mum!) The first pack of Chocolate soreen was waiting for us at the first stop and went down a treat, so much so a second pack got demolished!
The group is starting to really bond together and we are all managing to (just about) learn each others names.
Limerick hasn’t inspired to many of us to take to the town tonight so we are making the most of an early night before we head on to Galway tomorrow where I am sure we will have to sample some of the local bars – just to check for next years Ireland tour!
This really is a wonderful tour and ideal for anyone who wants to give an end-to-end challenge a go, not to mention the wonderful Irish hospitality!
