Day 3
We left the Ibis just after 9 with a few sore heads after Martyn had taught us how to play killer on the pool table! What a great evening…… we did come for the socialising didn’t we ………
It was a two stop strategy. after a couple of hill climbs and a lovely riverside section (although we did see all sides of the cement factory), we had our first mechanic al fault with Big Daves chain sticking on the small cog. Helped slow him down anyway !!!!
We got to Faffette for the first stop, After we had thread ed our way through what looked like another car boot, sandwiches were consumed. we lost Sue at the first stop with knee issues, but mainly it was to help give directions In the van.
Then the climbing started in earnest , Chrissies achievement of today was passing Colin and Ro at the top, just as Big Dave’s pedal fell off.
Further on we had a road closure that we had to sneak through running across some rail way tracks. The second stop had malt loaf and jelly babies, then it was the final push to Roquefort, (not where they make the cheese) and the last big hill laid out the Ardennes region below us. The fastest down hill followed and then on to the Hotel, when we had chance to wander around the town before out for dinner. A longish day, but great fun.
