Tucked away in Northern Spains lush landscapes are some of the world’s most extraordinary prehistoric cave paintings, dozens of glorious beaches and one of Europe’s most spectacular and overlooked mountain ranges, the Picos de Europa. The Picos are a mountain range forming part of the Cantabrian Mountains. They have routes regularly used by the Vuelta a España, such as Lagos de Covadonga and the Collado de Hoja. They have dramatic peaks rising to 2,500 m, river gorges, attractive towns and villages plus some big climbs and great passes. The roads, even on the coast, are fairly quiet. It was the first of the National Parks of Spain when it was created in 1918.
Cycling from Bilbao to Santiago de Compostela, we will see all of this, and more. Seven days cycling, with 8 days accommodation, you will fall in love with this beautiful part of Spain.
This is a small hotel/B&B based holiday. Prices are based on sharing in twin rooms.

Starting from Bilbao, we cycle up and into the mountains, to the reservoir at the top of the Ebro river. Then on into the Picos mountains proper, through the Natural Park of Fuentes Carrionas and Fuente Cobre-Montaña Palentina and then the Parque Nacional de Los Picos de Europa. Superb scenery and staggering views. Awesome cycling. Cycling around the southern side of the main peak of the Picos, we continue cycling west, through Las Ubiñas-la Mesa, Reserva de la Biosfera Natural Park, and onto our final destination, Santiago de Compostela. It really is a staggeringly beautiful tour.
