Take a ride across Italy, taking in the superb scenery and towns of Tuscany, Umbria and Marche

This is a unique cycling tour that will take you from one side of Italy to the other, but also a little south too, and back up along the Appenines. A total of 6 days cycling. Around 450 miles and 34,000 ft of climbing in total.

From Viareggio (Pisa) to Senigallia, you’ll see some fantastic Tuscan towns and villages, towns of Umbria, then you cycle through the Natural Regional Park of Golla Della Rossa.

Although having some significant climbs, the days give you time to really enjoy the tour to its full. Comfortable hotels, good food and vehicle support, making it a wonderful tour. We follow a mixture of main roads and back roads with our bike route always trying to choose the quietest option.

This is a supported tour – at the start of the day, when the group sets off biking, your kit bag will be loaded into the support vehicle and transported to the next overnight halt.  The van will meet you to feed and water you, but you are free to cycle at your own pace, with the support vehicle never far away. We must stress that apart from the emergency tool kit and spares that you would take on any day ride, you will not be required to carry any luggage. Stunning scenery, atmospheric overnight accommodation and a magnificent route make this an unforgettable cycling holiday experience. Average 75 miles per day. Come and savour the Italian experience, yet enjoy the occasional ‘significant’ climb !

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD
This is a small hotel/ based holiday. Prices are based on sharing in twin rooms.
Single Supplement for this tour is £350. If you are travelling by yourself where you request to share I will use my best endeavours to pair you with someone of the same gender, but this cannot be guaranteed. Matching will be done strictly in the order bookings are received and where I am unable to make a match I will notify you in advance and the Single Supplement will apply. You should be aware that the majority of my single customers opt for single occupancy.

THE ROUTE
Starting off from close to Pisa, we cycle south east, down towards, Siena. Continuing South we enter Umbria, and ride down to the historic city of Orvietta. Then we head west towards the Appenines, staying in Rieti, before making our way north towards Spoleto and cycling along the Apennine Mountain ridge. Finally we turn towards the sea, and finish our tour on the Adriatic coast, just north of Ancona. Around 450 miles and 34,000 ft of climbing in total.

BIKES

WE CAN TRANSPORT YOUR BIKE IN A CUSTOMISED VAN SPECIALLY TRANSFORMED TO SAFELY CARRY YOUR PRIZED POSSESSION !

We recommend a road bike with 25 to 28 mm tyres. Most people cycle on carbon road bikes. Mountain bikes are NOT suitable. The most important thing is that the bike functions properly and that you are comfortable riding it. You should make sure that your bike has suitable gears as there are some steep hills on parts of the route.  You should also make sure that you are able to carry some spare food and extra clothing with you on the bike.
